Reaching the Maasai People with the Gospel (Africa)

The Maasai people, known for their vibrant clothing and remarkable jump dancing, number around 1 million and live in Kenya and Tanzania. In 2024 Pastor Jefferson Gathu, our Africa Hub Coordinator, identified a critical need: translate the Step Up to Life booklet into the Maasai language, Maa. This translation would open the door for relational, non-confrontational Gospel conversations with the Maasai people.

As always, we’re passionate about bringing the Gospel of Jesus to unreached people groups and saw this as an open door for the salvation message. Following a generous donation of $5,000 in seed money, the Maa booklet translation was completed and ready for print in only four months. Praise God for opening doors along the way!

For the first print run, our African team ordered 15,000 copies of the Step Up to Life booklet in Maa and led a training for 100 Maasai pastors and ministry leaders. Each leader received their own Maa Step Up to Life booklet and copies to distribute, and in the months that followed, this group has grown to over 250 leaders sharing the word of God.

In 2024, 65,000 Maa booklets were distributed to the people of Kenya and Tanzania. In 2025, our Tanzanian champion Joshua Tanin has outlined plans to reach 200,000 more people with the Maa translation of the Step Up to Life Gospel presentation.

Mission accomplished! We thank the Lord for His provision and faithfulness in bringing the Gospel to the Masaai people in their own language. This project truly was a team effort, and we praise God that, because of this work, many Maasai people will one day bring their vibrant jump dancing before the throne in Heaven.

All praise and glory be to the Lord, the King of Heaven and Earth!
